A bill for an act
 relating to transportation; authorizing the use of ground lights on motorcycles to
increase visibility at night; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 169.56, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 169.56, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Notwithstanding section 169.64, subdivision 4a, a
motorcycle may be equipped with white ground lights mounted under the motorcycle such
that the bulbs or strips are not visible to other vehicles and shall be so aimed as to project
a steady, non-flashing beam of light not more than six feet in radius directly onto the roadway
and illuminating an area around the motorcycle.
