relating to energy; appropriating money for an anaerobic digestor energy system.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 116C.779, subdivision 1, paragraph (j),
$10,000,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $20,000,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated from
the renewable development account established in Minnesota Statutes, section 116C.779,
subdivision 1, to the commissioner of commerce for a grant to Recycling and Energy, in
partnership with Dem-Con HZI Bioenergy, LLC, to construct an anerobic digestor energy
system in the city of Shakopee.

new text begin (b) For the purposes of this section, "anaerobic digestor energy system" means a facility
that uses diverted food and organic waste from a metropolitan county, as defined under
Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121, subdivision 4, to create renewable natural gas and
biochar.
