A bill for an act
relating to higher education; establishing a grant program for students pursuing
law enforcement degree; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapter 136A.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) A student is eligible for a $1,500 annual
grant, awarded at the beginning of the academic term and distributed evenly between two
terms, if the student:

(1) meets the eligibility requirements in section 136A.121, subdivision 2;

(2) is enrolled for at least nine credits in a law enforcement associate degree program;
and

(3) attends an eligible institution as defined in section 136A.101, subdivision 4.

(b) The total lifetime limit is $3,000.

To receive a grant under this section, a student must apply in the
form and manner specified by the commissioner.
