A bill for an act
relating to corrections; appropriating money for improving data management
systems; creating a statewide public safety information-sharing infrastructure.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin STATEWIDE PUBLIC SAFETY DATA INFRASTRUCTURE;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2022 and $11,000,000 in fiscal year 2023 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of corrections to replace or improve existing
corrections data management systems that have significant deficiencies, create a statewide
public safety information-sharing infrastructure, and improve data collection and reportability.
The base for each of fiscal years 2024 and 2025 is $11,000,000. The base for fiscal year
2026 is $9,000,000.

new text begin (b) For the development, design, and implementation of the statewide public safety data
information-sharing infrastructure, the department shall, at a minimum, consult with county
correctional supervision providers, the judicial branch, the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association,
the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association, and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
