  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to railroads; appropriating money for 
  1.3             commuter rail line between Forest Lake and St. Paul. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [COMMUTER RAIL LINE; APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $69,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of transportation for planning, design, 
  1.8   engineering, real property acquisition, right-of-way leasing, 
  1.9   construction, and equipment of a commuter rail line between the 
  1.10  cities of Forest Lake and St. Paul.  This appropriation is 
  1.11  contingent on the commissioner securing at least $87,000,000 in 
  1.12  funding for this project from the federal government and at 
  1.13  least $17,000,000 in funding for this project from local and 
  1.14  regional sources.  This appropriation is available until spent. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.16     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2001.
