$1,000,000 is appropriated to the adjutant general from the general fund for fiscal
year 2007, to be used for the purchase of individual body armor, as deemed necessary by
the adjutant general, for use by members of the Minnesota National Guard who have been
ordered into federal active military service for combat duty in Iraq or Afghanistan. This is
a onetime appropriation that is available until expended and does not expire. All units of
body armor purchased under this appropriation must remain the property of the state and,
to the extent practicable, must continue to be reassigned to deploying members as they
periodically become available from demobilizing members.
