A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money for a grant to Lao Assistance Center of
Minnesota to address hepatitis B-related health disparities.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $300,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of health for a grant to Lao Assistance Center of Minnesota to provide
education and outreach to Minnesota's immigrant and refugee populations on the
prevalence of hepatitis B among these populations and the need for early screening and
vaccinations to prevent and treat this disease. The Lao Assistance Center of Minnesota
shall distribute a portion of the grant funds to Hmong American Mutual Assistance
Association Inc., Vietnamese Social Services of Minnesota, and United Cambodian
Association of Minnesota to implement the provisions of this section.
