A bill for an act
relating to drivers' licenses; requiring consultation regarding new design for
license for persons under 21 years of age.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The commissioner of public safety or a designee shall consult with public groups,
members of the intoxicating liquors industry, and other interested parties regarding
possibilities for a new design for Minnesota drivers' licenses. The commissioner shall
consider whether changes in shape, layout, design, or content might facilitate a new design
for licenses issued to persons under 21 years of age. The purpose of the new design would
be to facilitate enforcement of laws aimed at stopping illegal drinking by persons under
21 years of age. The commissioner shall notify relevant legislative committees as to any
results from these consultations.
