A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating funds for the project SOAR prisoner
reentry program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $1,800,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of corrections
for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007. The commissioner must grant the entire
appropriation to the employment action center's project SOAR, which helps offenders
reenter Minneapolis communities upon release from prison. This appropriation is in
addition to the amount appropriated to the commissioner for community services in Laws
2005, chapter 136, article 1, section 13, subdivision 3. This appropriation is added to
the department's base funding.
