  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; providing for matching 
  1.3             funds for federal disaster relief; appropriating money.
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION FOR MARCH 29, 1998, TORNADO 
  1.6   DISASTER RELIEF.] 
  1.7      $....... is appropriated in fiscal year 1998 from the 
  1.8   general fund to the commissioner of public safety to be used as 
  1.9   a state match for federal disaster funds related to tornado and 
  1.10  other weather activities responsible for damage on March 29, 
  1.11  1998, in counties designated as disaster areas by Governor 
  1.12  Carlson.  This appropriation does not cancel, but is available 
  1.13  until expended.  If, by September 1, 1998, the commissioner of 
  1.14  public safety determines that any of this appropriation is not 
  1.15  needed for the purpose specified, the amount so identified 
  1.16  reverts to the general fund. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
