  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to child care; directing the commissioner of 
  1.3             the department of children, families, and learning to 
  1.4             request a waiver from federal law. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM.] 
  1.7      The commissioner of the department of children, families, 
  1.8   and learning must request a waiver from the United States 
  1.9   Department of Agriculture so that child care programs that are 
  1.10  licensed under Minnesota Statutes, section 245A.14, subdivision 
  1.11  4, are allowed to participate in the federal child and adult 
  1.12  care food program under United States Code, title 42, section 
  1.13  1766.  The commissioner of the department of children, families, 
  1.14  and learning must propose amendments to Minnesota law to ensure 
  1.15  that child care programs licensed under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.16  section 245A.14, subdivision 4, are allowed to participate in 
  1.17  the federal child and adult care food program under United 
  1.18  States Code, title 42, section 1766.
