  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; requiring the bureau of 
  1.3             criminal apprehension to inform parents or legal 
  1.4             guardians of minors if their children are included in 
  1.5             the criminal gang investigative data system; amending 
  1.6             Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section 299C.091, 
  1.7             by adding a subdivision. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section 
  1.10  299C.091, is amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 6.  [PARENTAL NOTIFICATION.] Notwithstanding 
  1.12  subdivisions 2 and 3, the bureau shall notify a parent or legal 
  1.13  guardian of an individual under 18 years of age who is included 
  1.14  in the criminal gang investigative data system that the 
  1.15  individual is in the system.
