  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; requiring Benton county to 
  1.3             apportion reimbursement for liability among local 
  1.4             units of government. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [BENTON COUNTY APPROPRIATIONS.] 
  1.7      The $85,000 appropriated for a grant to Benton county in 
  1.8   Laws 1997, chapter 216, section 2, subdivision 5, and any future 
  1.9   money appropriated to Benton county for payment of costs of a 
  1.10  final order or settlement of a lawsuit for environmental 
  1.11  response costs at a mixed municipal solid waste facility must be 
  1.12  apportioned among the local units of government that were 
  1.13  parties to the final order or settlement in the same proportion 
  1.14  that the local units of government agreed to as their share of 
  1.15  the liability.
