A bill for an act
relating to transportation; requiring analysis of various transit modes before
proceeding with the Central Corridor Transit Way; amending Laws 2005, chapter
20, article 1, section 19, subdivision 3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Laws 2005, chapter 20, article 1, section 19, subdivision 3, is amended to
read:



Subd. 3.

Central Corridor Transit Way

comparison of transit options, including
personal rapid transit (PRT), express bus
transit, and light rail transit, and then (2)

St. Paul and Minneapolis.new text begin A published
report of a recent study done of any Central
Corridor Transit Way transit mode listed in
clause (1) may satisfy the study requirement
for the listed transit option. The study
and analysis must at least determine the
effectiveness and viability of each transit
option and specifically address whether the
Central Corridor Transit Way would be a
cost-effective and viable demonstration site
for the PRT option. The council must give
serious consideration to implementing PRT
and ensure that consultants or other persons
with expertise in PRT systems, and associated
national or international organizations such
as the Advanced Transit Association, are
consulted and utilized at each phase of the
study, analysis, and comparison.

This appropriation may not be spent for
capital improvements within a trunk highway
right-of-way.
