  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; authorizing state bonds; 
  1.3             appropriating money for the residential academies at 
  1.4             Faribault. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [RESIDENTIAL ACADEMIES AT FARIBAULT.] 
  1.7      Subdivision 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] $9,323,000 is appropriated 
  1.8   from the bond proceeds fund to the commissioner of 
  1.9   administration for the purposes in subdivisions 2 to 4 at the 
  1.10  residential academies at Faribault. 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [ASSET PRESERVATION.] $725,000 of the amount in 
  1.12  subdivision 1 is for asset preservation improvements on both 
  1.13  campuses at the Faribault residential academies, including but 
  1.14  not limited to asbestos removal and replacement of roofs, 
  1.15  windows, fire protection systems, and sidewalks. 
  1.16     Subd. 3.  [TATE HALL RENOVATION.] $4,009,000 of the amount 
  1.17  in subdivision 1 is to design, remodel, furnish, and equip Tate 
  1.18  Hall on the campus of the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf.  
  1.19  This project is to include asset preservation improvements, 
  1.20  installation of a ventilation and humidity control system, 
  1.21  remodeling to expand bathroom facilities, and renovation of new 
  1.22  space for a home living skills center. 
  1.23     Subd. 4.  [LYSEN EXPANSION AND RENOVATION.] $4,589,000 of 
  1.24  the amount in subdivision 1 is to design, construct, furnish, 
  1.25  and equip an expansion and renovation of the Lysen Learning 
  2.1   Building on the campus of the Minnesota State Academy for the 
  2.2   Blind.  This project is to include expansion or remodeling of 
  2.3   classrooms, offices, recreation areas, and related spaces in 
  2.4   this building. 
  2.5      Sec. 2.  [BOND SALE.] 
  2.6      To provide the money appropriated by this section from the 
  2.7   bond proceeds fund, the commissioner of finance, on request of 
  2.8   the governor, shall sell and issue bonds of the state in an 
  2.9   amount up to $9,325,000 in the manner, on the terms, and with 
  2.10  the effect prescribed by Minnesota Statutes, sections 16A.631 to 
  2.11  16A.675, and by the Minnesota Constitution, article XI, sections 
  2.12  4 to 7. 
  2.13     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.14     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day after their final 
  2.15  enactment.
