  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to government data practices; providing for 
  1.3             data access by researchers funded by a government 
  1.4             entity; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes, chapter 13. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [13.495] [DATA ACCESS BY RESEARCH GRANT 
  1.8   RECIPIENTS.] 
  1.9      When the legislature or a state agency, statewide system, 
  1.10  or political subdivision provides funding in support of a 
  1.11  research project, the grant recipient shall be given access to 
  1.12  not public data needed for the research project and maintained 
  1.13  by any state agency, statewide system, or political 
  1.14  subdivision.  The grant recipient shall be bound by the 
  1.15  provisions of this chapter with regard to data received under 
  1.16  this section.
