A bill for an act
 relating to state lands; requiring approval of state acquisition of real property in
fee; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 16B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

[16B.2971] ACQUISITION OF REAL PROPERTY IN FEE; APPROVAL.

Subdivision 1.

Definition.

For purposes of this section, "agency" means an agency as
defined in section 16B.01, subdivision 2, and the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State
Colleges and Universities.

Subd. 2.

Approval required.

No agency may acquire real property in fee unless the
acquisition is approved by:

(1) the legislature during a regular session; and

(2) the board of commissioners of the county in which the property is located.
