  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; public employees retirement 
  1.3             association; authorizing certain former employees to 
  1.4             apply for disability benefits. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION; 
  1.7   REDUCED SERVICE CREDIT REQUIREMENT FOR DISABILITY BENEFIT 
  1.8   APPLICATION.] 
  1.9      (a) An eligible person described in paragraph (b) is 
  1.10  entitled to apply for a disability benefit from the general 
  1.11  employee retirement plan of the public employees retirement 
  1.12  association with 14 months of service credit subsequent to the 
  1.13  person's last termination of membership, notwithstanding any 
  1.14  provision to the contrary of Minnesota Statutes, section 353.33, 
  1.15  subdivision 1.  
  1.16     (b) An eligible person is a person who: 
  1.17     (1) was born on May 30, 1945; 
  1.18     (2) began public employment with Todd county in November, 
  1.19  1978; 
  1.20     (3) first terminated public employment in August 1982; 
  1.21     (4) resumed public employment with Morrison county in 
  1.22  October 1987; 
  1.23     (5) subsequently terminated public employment with Meeker 
  1.24  county in November 1997; 
  1.25     (6) resumed public employment with Todd county in August 
  2.1   1998; and 
  2.2      (7) subsequently terminated public employment October 8, 
  2.3   1999. 
  2.4      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.5      Section 1 is effective retroactive to October 8, 1999.
