A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; requiring soil and water conservation district
approval of buffer protection maps; amending Minnesota Statutes 2015
Supplement, section 103F.48, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2015 Supplement, section 103F.48, is amended by
adding a subdivision to read:

new text begin Buffer protection maps; local approval. new text end

new text begin The commissioner must
establish and maintain an official buffer protection map for each county that shows the
public waters and public ditch systems that are subject to the water resources riparian
protection requirements under this section. The soil and water conservation district with
jurisdiction over the area identified on a map must approve the map prior to the map's use
in implementing this section. Subsequent modifications to an approved buffer protection
map must be approved by the soil and water conservation district.
