  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to reemployment insurance; providing 
  1.3             additional benefits for certain individuals on layoff 
  1.4             from a certain employer; providing an exemption from 
  1.5             certain requirements. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [EXEMPTION FROM ADDITIONAL BENEFITS 
  1.8   REQUIREMENTS.] 
  1.9      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 268.125, 
  1.10  subdivisions 1, and 3, clauses (1) and (6), a claimant is 
  1.11  eligible to receive additional benefits under Minnesota 
  1.12  Statutes, section 268.125, if: 
  1.13     (1) the claimant was laid off due to lack of work from the 
  1.14  Hibbing Taconite Company in St. Louis county between the months 
  1.15  of July and September of 1997; and 
  1.16     (2) the commissioner of economic security finds that the 
  1.17  claimant satisfies the conditions of Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.18  268.125, subdivision 3, clauses (2) to (5).  
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.20     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
