 relating to education; appropriating money for a Project Diva grant.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PROJECT DIVA GRANT.

new text begin $856,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of education for a grant to Project Diva to allow Project Diva to expand its
impact and outreach by increasing staff and program locations throughout the Twin Cities
metropolitan area in order to provide more middle and high school African-American
girls with, and engage their parents in, intensive, one-year coaching and mentoring
related to career exploration, academic achievement, peer social networking, emotional
behavioral development, financial literacy, and mental and physical health and wellness.
This appropriation remains available until expended.
