  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to local government; providing for petitions 
  1.3             for the dissolution of town subordinate service 
  1.4             districts; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes, chapter 365A; repealing Minnesota Statutes 
  1.6             1996, section 365A.09. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [365A.095] [DISSOLUTION.] 
  1.9      A petition signed by at least 75 percent of the property 
  1.10  owners in the territory of the subordinate service district 
  1.11  requesting the removal of the district may be presented to the 
  1.12  town board.  Within 30 days after the town board receives the 
  1.13  petition, the town clerk shall determine the validity of the 
  1.14  signatures on the petition.  If the requisite number of 
  1.15  signatures are certified as valid, the town board must hold a 
  1.16  public hearing on the petitioned matter.  Within 30 days after 
  1.17  the end of the hearing, the town board must decide whether to 
  1.18  discontinue the subordinate service district, continue as it is, 
  1.19  or take some other action with respect to it. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.21     Minnesota Statutes, section 365A.09, is repealed.
