A bill for an act
relating to education finance; increasing funding for education partnership pilot
grants; appropriating money; amending Laws 2015, First Special Session chapter
3, article 2, section 70, subdivision 26.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Laws 2015, First Special Session chapter 3, article 2, section 70, subdivision
26, is amended to read:


Subd. 26.

Education partnership pilots.

For education partnership pilot grants:

Of this amount, $167,000 in each year is for the Northfield Healthy Community
Initiative for a pilot site in Northfield; $167,000 in each year is for the Jones Family
Foundation for a pilot site in Red Wing;new text begin $167,000 in each year is for Independent School
District No. 535, Rochestor, for a pilot site in Rochestor;

for Independent School District No. 742, St. Cloud, for a pilot site in St. Cloud. Each
partnership pilot program shall support community collaborations focused on academic
achievement and youth development, use a comprehensive and data-driven approach to
increase student success, and measure outcomes, such as kindergarten readiness, reading
proficiency at third grade, high school graduation, and college and career readiness. deleted text begin By

deleted text end Each partnership pilot grant recipient shall submit to the chairs and
ranking minority members of the legislative committees with primary jurisdiction over
kindergarten through grade 12 education a report describing the activities funded by the
grant, changes in outcome measures attributable to the grant-funded activities, and the
recipient's program plan for the following year.

This is a onetime appropriation. Any balance from the first year may carry forward
into the second year.
