1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to child support; permitting an obligor to 1.3 file a bond with the court pending the outcome of an 1.4 appeal; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 1.5 Statutes, chapter 518. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. [518.6145] [APPEAL; SUPERSEDEAS BOND.] 1.8 If an obligor appeals an order or judgment for child 1.9 support, the obligor may file a supersedeas bond with the court 1.10 staying the portions of the court order or judgment being 1.11 appealed pending the outcome of the appeal. The bond must be 1.12 filed in the manner provided by the Minnesota Rules of Civil 1.13 Appellate Procedure, except that filing a bond under this 1.14 section is within the discretion of the obligor, not the court, 1.15 and the court must accept a bond that is proper in form and 1.16 adequate in amount.
