A bill for an act
 relating to health; requiring the commissioner of health to provide education and
technical assistance to health care providers on laws governing clinical health
information for storage, use, and sharing; appropriating money; proposing coding
for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 144.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS.

new text begin The commissioner of health shall provide ongoing education and technical assistance
to health care providers as defined in section 62J.03, subdivision 8, about state and federal
laws that govern how clinical health information may be stored, used, and shared, and
about best practices for appropriately securing information and preventing inappropriate
use. In carrying out these activities, the commissioner may provide legal analysis. Any
legal analysis provided shall not constitute legal advice.

general fund for the purpose of implementing Minnesota Statutes, section 144.349.
