A bill for an act
relating to tourism; appropriating money to Explore Minnesota Tourism for an
event destination pilot project.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $850,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to Explore
Minnesota Tourism to establish a pilot project to assist in funding and securing major
events benefiting communities throughout the state. The pilot project must measure
the economic impact of visitors on state and local economies, increased lodging and
nonlodging sales taxes in addition to visitor spending, and increased media awareness of
the state as an event destination.
