  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the Minnesota historical society; 
  1.3             modifying compensation policies; appropriating money; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, section 
  1.5             138.01, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, section 
  1.8   138.01, is amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  The Minnesota historical society shall receive 
  1.10  specific appropriations each biennium to carry out the purposes 
  1.11  of subdivision 2.  The appropriation must be sufficient to pay 
  1.12  for salary and benefit related increases as determined by the 
  1.13  commissioner of employee relations in the commissioner's plan in 
  1.14  accordance with section 43A.18, subdivision 2, and the 
  1.15  legislature. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.17     $1,567,000 is appropriated to the Minnesota historical 
  1.18  society from the general fund for the biennium ending June 30, 
  1.19  1997, for the purposes of this act. 
  1.20     Sec. 3.  [REVISOR'S INSTRUCTION.] 
  1.21     The revisor shall change the headnote to Minnesota 
  1.22  Statutes, section 138.01, to read "Minnesota historical society; 
  1.23  appropriations."
