  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic development; providing for 
  1.3             on-the-job training in the skilled trades; 
  1.4             appropriating money.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [ON-THE-JOB TRAINING.] 
  1.7      The departments of trade and economic development, economic 
  1.8   security, and labor and industry and the Minnesota state 
  1.9   colleges and universities shall cooperate in developing 
  1.10  on-the-job training to assist companies in training workers in 
  1.11  the skilled trades.  The program must include training for 
  1.12  immigrants who have completed training in skilled trades outside 
  1.13  of the United States and must include English as a second 
  1.14  language specialists and interpreters as necessary. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.16     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.17  department of economic security for the purposes of section 1.
