A bill for an act
 relating to energy; requiring senate advice and consent of an appointment to chair
the Public Utilities Commission; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section
216A.03, subdivision 3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 216A.03, subdivision 3, is amended to read:


Subd. 3.

Chair.

The governor shall deleted text begin selectdeleted text end new text begin appoint, by and with the advice and consent
of the senate,new text end one of the commissioners to serve as the chair for a term concurrent with that
of the governor.

If a vacancy occurs in the position of chair, the governor shall select a new chair to
complete the unexpired term.

final enactment and applies to any appointment of a commissioner to serve as chair of the
commission made on or after that date.
