  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; restoring state aid and local 
  1.3             property tax levy proceeds lost to the fund balance 
  1.4             penalty for independent school district No. 820, 
  1.5             Sebeka; appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [FUND BALANCE PENALTY; SEBEKA.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [AID ADJUSTMENT.] The commissioner of the 
  1.9   department of children, families, and learning shall increase 
  1.10  the general education aid amount for fiscal year 1996 for 
  1.11  independent school district No. 820, Sebeka.  The amount of the 
  1.12  increase equals the amount of aid that would otherwise be 
  1.13  reduced by Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 124A.26, subdivision 
  1.14  3, for fiscal year 1996. 
  1.15     Subd. 2.  [LEVY ADJUSTMENT.] The commissioner shall make a 
  1.16  positive levy adjustment for taxes payable in 1997 to the 
  1.17  general fund levies for independent school district No. 820, 
  1.18  Sebeka.  The amount of the adjustment equals the levy reduction 
  1.19  attributable to Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 124A.26, for 
  1.20  fiscal year 1996. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
