  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; requiring the county to 
  1.3             administer school district elections; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 205A. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [205A.025] [COUNTY ADMINISTRATION OF SCHOOL 
  1.7   DISTRICT ELECTIONS.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the county in 
  1.9   which a complete school district or the greatest portion of a 
  1.10  school district is located shall administer all school district 
  1.11  elections.  The school district shall pay any costs attributable 
  1.12  to the district that result from the county's administration of 
  1.13  the district election. 
  1.14     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.15  following final enactment and applies to elections held on or 
  1.16  after July 1, 2002.
