  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing certain school 
  1.3             districts to levy for school bus purchases. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [SCHOOL BUS LEVY.] 
  1.6      For taxes payable in 2005, a school district in statutory 
  1.7   operating debt under Minnesota Statutes, section 123B.81, may 
  1.8   levy up to the amount paid for school buses purchased by the 
  1.9   district from May 1, 2004, through September 1, 2004.  The 
  1.10  school district must recognize the full amount of this levy as 
  1.11  revenue for the fiscal year in which it is certified. 
  1.12     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2004.
