  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; providing for benefits 
  1.3             and insurance for employees of entities established by 
  1.4             the amateur sports commission; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1994, section 240A.03, subdivision 13. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 240A.03, 
  1.8   subdivision 13, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 13.  [NONPROFIT CORPORATIONS AND FOUNDATIONS.] (a)  
  1.10  The commission, and any other state office, agency, or board 
  1.11  owning or operating a sport facility designated as an official 
  1.12  training center by the national governing body of that sport, 
  1.13  may establish nonprofit corporations and charitable foundations. 
  1.14     (b) Employees, officers, and directors of the nonprofit 
  1.15  corporations and charitable foundations governed by paragraph (a)
  1.16  are not state employees, but are insured for the purposes of 
  1.17  liability insurance and workers' compensation and, at the option 
  1.18  of the commission, may participate in the benefit plans 
  1.19  available to state unclassified service employees.
