  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing a management 
  1.3             assistance study for independent school district No. 
  1.4             299, Caledonia; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE STUDY.] 
  1.7      (a) $40,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal 
  1.8   year 1998 to the department of children, families, and learning 
  1.9   to perform a management assistance study for independent school 
  1.10  district No. 299, Caledonia. 
  1.11     (b) The study shall include an analysis of facility needs, 
  1.12  enrollment trends, and instructional opportunities available to 
  1.13  pupils of independent school district No. 299, Caledonia.  The 
  1.14  department may consult with neighboring school districts, as 
  1.15  appropriate.  The department shall complete the management 
  1.16  assistance study by December 31, 1998. 
  1.17     (c) This appropriation is available until June 30, 1999. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
