  1.2             relating to retirement; changing provisions relating 
  1.3             to part-time teaching service; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1996, section 354.66, subdivisions 1c and 3. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 354.66, 
  1.7   subdivision 1c, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 1c.  [PARTICIPATION.] Participation in the part-time 
  1.9   mobility program must be based on a full fiscal year period 
  1.10  agreed to by the board and the teacher and the employment 
  1.11  pattern of the teacher during the most recent fiscal year. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 354.66, 
  1.13  subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.14     Subd. 3.  [PART-TIME TEACHING POSITION, DEFINED.] For 
  1.15  purposes of this section, the term "part-time teaching position" 
  1.16  shall mean a teaching position within the district in which, for 
  1.17  a teacher employed by a school board, the teacher is employed 
  1.18  for at least 50 full days or a fractional equivalent thereof as 
  1.19  prescribed in section 354.091, or for a teacher employed by the 
  1.20  Minnesota state colleges and universities the teacher is 
  1.21  employed at least one-third time for at least one semester, and 
  1.22  for which the teacher is compensated in an amount not exceeding 
  1.23  67 percent of the compensation established by the board for a 
  1.24  full-time teacher with identical education and experience with 
  1.25  the employing unit.  The compensation of a teacher in the state 
  2.1   colleges and university system may exceed the 67 percent limit 
  2.2   if the teacher does not teach just one of the three quarters in 
  2.3   the system's full school year, provided no additional services 
  2.4   are performed while the teacher participates in the program.
