  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; authorizing training for 
  1.3             emergency response personnel in securing ruptured gas 
  1.4             mains; appropriating money; proposing coding for new 
  1.5             law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299J. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [299J.091] [TRAINING FOR EMERGENCY RESPONDER 
  1.8   PERSONNEL.] 
  1.9      The commissioner shall provide emergency responder 
  1.10  personnel throughout the state with current information and 
  1.11  periodic training on the methods and procedures for safely 
  1.12  securing a ruptured pipeline and controlling the surrounding 
  1.13  area following an emergency release.  
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.15     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.16  commissioner of public safety for the fiscal year ending June 
  1.17  30, 2001, to implement and administer section 1.  The complement 
  1.18  of the office of pipeline safety in the department of public 
  1.19  safety is increased by .. position.
