  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; appropriating money to the 
  1.3             board of regents in support of a center for biomedical 
  1.4             engineering. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $....... in fiscal year 1996 is appropriated from the 
  1.8   general fund to the board of regents of the University of 
  1.9   Minnesota to establish an endowment to support the operating 
  1.10  costs of a biomedical engineering center.  This appropriation is 
  1.11  contingent upon the center raising at least an equal amount of 
  1.12  nonstate funds.  This appropriation is nonrecurring and will 
  1.13  cancel June 30, 1997, if the required matching money is not 
  1.14  raised.
