  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime prevention; requiring the 
  1.3             commissioner of public safety to award grants; 
  1.4             appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299A. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [299A.62] [MINNESOTA CITIES GRANT PROGRAM.] 
  1.8      The commissioner shall award grants to first class cities 
  1.9   for creating and expanding curfew enforcement, truancy 
  1.10  prevention, and pretrial diversion programs.  
  1.11     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.12     $....... is appropriated to the commissioner of public 
  1.13  safety for the purposes contained in section 1.  This 
  1.14  appropriation is available until June 30, 1996, and shall be 
  1.15  used to continue the programs funded by Laws 1994, chapter 576, 
  1.16  section 67, subdivision 10.
