  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; increasing the required nursing 
  1.3             hours in nursing homes under specified circumstances. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [NURSING HOURS AND RATES.] 
  1.6      (a) In the event that the 2005 Minnesota legislature does 
  1.7   not act to amend the requirements of Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.8   144A.04, and Minnesota Rules, part 4658.0510, on July 1, 2005, 
  1.9   the required nursing hours in nursing facilities licensed in 
  1.10  Minnesota shall be increased to 4.1 hours per standardized 
  1.11  resident day. 
  1.12     (b) Nursing facility payment rates must be reasonable and 
  1.13  adequate to meet the costs that must be incurred by efficiently 
  1.14  and economically operated facilities to conform with the 
  1.15  requirement established in paragraph (a).
