  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing declining pupil 
  1.3             unit aid to independent school district No. 241, 
  1.4             Albert Lea; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [FISCAL YEARS 2002 TO 2005 DECLINING PUPIL UNIT 
  1.7   AID; ALBERT LEA.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [FISCAL YEAR 2002.] For fiscal year 2002 
  1.9   only, independent school district No. 241, Albert Lea, is 
  1.10  eligible for declining pupil unit aid equal to the product of 
  1.11  the general education formula allowance for fiscal year 2002 
  1.12  times 100 percent of the difference between the district's 
  1.13  adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the 2000-2001 school year 
  1.14  and the district's adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the 
  1.15  2001-2002 school year. 
  1.16     Subd. 2.  [FISCAL YEAR 2003.] For fiscal year 2003 only, 
  1.17  independent school district No. 241, Albert Lea, is eligible for 
  1.18  declining pupil unit aid equal to the product of the general 
  1.19  education formula allowance for fiscal year 2003 times 75 
  1.20  percent of the difference between the district's adjusted 
  1.21  marginal cost pupil units for the 2000-2001 school year and the 
  1.22  district's adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the 2002-2003 
  1.23  school year. 
  1.24     Subd. 3.  [FISCAL YEAR 2004.] For fiscal year 2004 only, 
  1.25  independent school district No. 241, Albert Lea, is eligible for 
  2.1   declining pupil unit aid equal to the product of the general 
  2.2   education formula allowance for fiscal year 2004 times 50 
  2.3   percent of the difference between the district's adjusted 
  2.4   marginal cost pupil units for the 2000-2001 school year and the 
  2.5   district's adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the 2003-2004 
  2.6   school year. 
  2.7      Subd. 4.  [FISCAL YEAR 2005.] For fiscal year 2005 only, 
  2.8   independent school district No. 241, Albert Lea, is eligible for 
  2.9   declining pupil unit aid equal to the product of the general 
  2.10  education formula allowance for fiscal year 2005 times 25 
  2.11  percent of the difference between the district's adjusted 
  2.12  marginal cost pupil units for the 2000-2001 school year and the 
  2.13  district's adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the 2004-2005 
  2.14  school year. 
  2.15     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  2.16  following final enactment. 
  2.17     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  2.18     $....... in fiscal year 2002 and $....... in fiscal year 
  2.19  2003 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  2.20  of children, families, and learning for declining pupil unit aid 
  2.21  to independent school district No. 241, Albert Lea. 
  2.22     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  2.23  following final enactment.
