A bill for an act
relating to transportation; requiring a traffic safety study on marked Trunk Highway
210 in Pillager; requiring a report.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) The commissioner of transportation must conduct a traffic safety study on marked
Trunk Highway 210 within the city limits of Pillager. At a minimum, the study must: (1)
analyze current safety issues, including but not limited to traffic speeds, risk of collisions,
and pedestrian safety; and (2) identify options and costs for immediate short- and long-term
safety improvements and enhancements, including but not limited to flashing amber lights,
radar-assisted speed indicator signs, and reducing the speed limit.

(b) The study must also examine the risks and impacts associated with the close proximity
of marked Trunk Highway 210 to Pillager High School by conducting research during
months when school is in session and during the hours when school is starting in the morning
and ending in the afternoon.

(c) The commissioner must submit a copy of the study to the members and staff of the
legislative committees with jurisdiction over transportation policy and finance by February
1, 2020.

(d) The commissioner must use existing funds to conduct the study.
