A bill for an act
relating to local government; allowing local governments in the metropolitan
area to opt out of comprehensive planning; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 473.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin A local government unit otherwise required by provisions in this chapter to
adopt a comprehensive plan or plan amendment may adopt a resolution not to adopt
a comprehensive plan or plan amendment. The resolution takes effect only if approved
by a majority of voters in the jurisdiction voting on the question, which may be posed
only at a general election.
