1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to courts; extending the streamlined 1.3 dissolution procedure pilot project; modifying the 1.4 duties and powers of a referee for the duration of a 1.5 family court block calendar pilot program; amending 1.6 Laws 1991, chapter 271, section 9. 1.7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.8 Section 1. Laws 1991, chapter 271, section 9, is amended 1.9 to read: 1.10 Sec. 9. [REPEALER.] 1.11 Section 5 is repealed effective July 1,19961997, for 1.12 cases filed on or after that date. 1.13 Sec. 2. [PILOT PROJECT; COMBINED JURISDICTION COURT.] 1.14 Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 260.031, 1.15 subdivision 4, and 484.70, subdivisions 6 and 7, paragraphs (d) 1.16 and (e), the second judicial district may implement a pilot 1.17 project to improve the resolution of family problems by 1.18 assigning related family, probate, and juvenile court matters, 1.19 other than delinquency proceedings, to a single judge or referee. 1.20 The second judicial district shall report to the supreme 1.21 court by August 1, 1998, on the effectiveness of the combined 1.22 jurisdiction court. 1.23 Sec. 3. [REPEALER.] 1.24 Section 2 is repealed when the project is completed, or 1.25 June 30, 1998, whichever occurs earlier. 1.26 Sec. 4. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 2.1 Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 2.2 enactment.
