A bill for an act
relating to human services; direction to commissioner regarding an examination
of billing and collections for medical assistance and MinnesotaCare.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DIRECTION TO COMMISSIONER; BILLING AND COLLECTIONS.

new text begin Notwithstanding any other law or rule to the contrary, the commissioner of human
services must offer a request for proposals to private vendors to examine billing and
collections practices and systems within the medical assistance and MinnesotaCare
programs in order to make recommendations to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse. The
vendor that is awarded the contract must complete the examination and provide
recommendations to the commissioner by July 1, 2015.
