  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; requiring nonpublic schools to 
  1.3             annually provide notice of equal transportation 
  1.4             requirements; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 121A.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [121A.584] [NONPUBLIC SCHOOL; TRANSPORTATION 
  1.8   NOTICE.] 
  1.9      Nonpublic schools, as defined under section 123B.41, shall 
  1.10  annually notify parents that state law requires public school 
  1.11  districts to provide equal transportation to nonpublic 
  1.12  students.  The notice may state that a public school district 
  1.13  may provide these transportation services, or in the 
  1.14  alternative, the parents may be eligible to request 
  1.15  reimbursement from their resident school district for their 
  1.16  transportation costs if they drive their child to school.  The 
  1.17  notice shall be provided no later than September 15 of each 
  1.18  school year.  The notice may be included with other notices 
  1.19  provided by the school, but must be separately identified and 
  1.20  clearly visible to the reader.
