  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to economic development; providing for a 
  1.3             partnership between the Minnesota State Colleges and 
  1.4             Universities and the biosciences industries; 
  1.5             appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; BIOSCIENCES HIGHER EDUCATION 
  1.8   INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP.] 
  1.9      $750,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board 
  1.10  of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities for 
  1.11  fiscal year 2005, to develop and establish a partnership with 
  1.12  the biosciences industry to respond to the future workforce 
  1.13  needs of existing and emerging firms in the biosciences 
  1.14  industries.  As part of the partnership, the board must design 
  1.15  courses of study that are flexible and respond to new 
  1.16  discoveries in biosciences industries.
