  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to trade practices; requiring public 
  1.3             utilities commission to adopt rules to require 
  1.4             pay-per-call telephone services to include the amount 
  1.5             of Minnesota state tax in its advertisements of those 
  1.6             calls; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.7             Statutes, chapter 325E. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  [325E.393] [PAY-PER-CALL TELEPHONE SERVICES; 
  1.10  RULES.] 
  1.11     By January 1, 1996, the public utilities commission shall 
  1.12  adopt rules to require each person who provides a telephone 
  1.13  information service or any other pay-per-call telephone service 
  1.14  in the state to include in its advertising of the service the 
  1.15  amount of the state tax for Minnesota residents that will be 
  1.16  added to the charge or cost of the service or call.  The rules 
  1.17  must require that the amount of state tax be shown or stated in 
  1.18  the advertisement in the same manner and in direct proximity to 
  1.19  the advertised charge for the service or call.
