A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for new construction and capital
improvements to county and city public safety facilities in counties outside of the
seven-county metropolitan area.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin GREATER MINNESOTA PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITIES GRANT
PROGRAM; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $159,000,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of public safety to establish the greater Minnesota public safety facilities
grant program for grants to the following counties and cities located outside of the
seven-county metropolitan area for new construction and capital improvements to public
safety and law enforcement facilities:

new text begin (3) $3,794,000 for a grant to the city of Dilworth;

new text begin (4) $24,200,000 for a grant to the city of Hibbing;

new text begin (5) $22,780,000 for a grant to Jackson County;

new text begin (6) $3,300,000 for a grant to the Joint Powers Lakes Area Police Department;
