  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to regional development commissions; 
  1.3             appropriating money for regional planning. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $600,000 is appropriated from the general fund for fiscal 
  1.7   year 1999 to the director of the office of strategic and 
  1.8   long-range planning for grants to regional development 
  1.9   commissions to assist local units of government with the 
  1.10  preparation of local land use plans.  In regions not served by 
  1.11  an active regional development commission, the director may 
  1.12  select another regional organization.
