  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to transportation; requiring the commissioner 
  1.3             of transportation to pay operating assistance to the 
  1.4             city of Worthington from the greater Minnesota transit 
  1.5             fund for taxi service subsidized by the city.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [CITY OF WORTHINGTON; TRANSIT ASSISTANCE.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding any provision of Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.9   section 16A.88, the commissioner of transportation shall provide 
  1.10  assistance from the greater Minnesota transit fund established 
  1.11  under that section to the city of Worthington for operating 
  1.12  subsidies paid for taxi service through the Prairie Land transit 
  1.13  joint powers authority.  The amount of the assistance must be: 
  1.14     (1) in fiscal year 2003, $40,000; and 
  1.15     (2) in fiscal year 2004 and subsequent years, the previous 
  1.16  year's amount multiplied by the percent of increase or decrease 
  1.17  in revenue to the greater Minnesota transit fund in that year.
